USAMV Expert meeting on implemented measures and potential improvements on mosaic habitats management

An in-person expert meeting was organized on October 16th by the Romanian project partner, USAMV Cluj. Among the 37 stakeholders present were rangers from Apuseni Nature Park Administration, members of the Romanian Alpine Club, representatives of the regional councils of two counties and mayors from 8 communities.

USAMV Cluj experts presented the implemented measures under Activities 2.1 and 2.2 – pilot site selection and assessment, study on native wild forest fruit species and other climate resilient plant species and pilot measures implemented. At the end, organizers distributed a questionnaire in order to gain constructive proposals on mosaic habitat management. Some of the questions were:

· What is your opinion about the proposed measures?

· How do you see the future management of mosaic habitats?

· Why are the pastures degraded?

· How can you explain that the forests are coming back?

· What can you propose to manage the mosaic habitats?

The discussion on panel was very engagement and the feedback positive. Important number of mayors proposed that the activities continue on their grounds i.e. to increase the area of protection.

The meeting fostered valuable exchange and collaboration among local stakeholders, highlighting the importance of sustainable habitat management in the Apuseni region. The constructive feedback received will guide future project activities and help strengthen community involvement in conservation efforts. This exchange of knowledge and experience will help us improve our future endeavors!
