Green-Tex Textile Reuse Workshops In Serbia
On February 24, 2025, Green-Tex project partner Regional Development Agency Zlatibor from Serbia hosted the first in a series of REPAIR & REWEAR workshops dedicated to textile reuse. Together with local participants, the project team explored creative ways to breathe new life into old garments and give them renewed value. This was the first out of 5 planned workshops to revive the tradition of knitting, weaving and generally processing and preparing wool for further use, as well as to point out how important it is to preserve this resource, which is rooted in tradition of the Zlatibor region in Serbia. Additionally, the reuse process of textile items is necessarily connected to the community. For the younger female population, educations on traditional techniques and knitting methods will be organized in order to bring the eternal tradition of knitting to new generations and to preserve it from oblivion.
