Textile Compass: Roadmap to Circular Economy" Event in Varna– April 8, 2025 Varna

On April 8, 2025, Bulgarian project partner EUROTEX organized the event “Textile Compass: Roadmap to Circular Economy” in Varna, as part of the Green-Tex project. The event gathered representatives from businesses, municipalities, NGOs, academic institutions, and the media across Bulgaria to discuss sustainable textile waste management and the adoption of circular business models in the textile industry.

The main goals of the event were to raise awareness and enhance the capacity of participants regarding the challenges and opportunities of transitioning to a circular textile economy, in line with EU regulations. The event covered three Green-Tex key pilot activities: textile waste collection, the use of locally sourced natural fibers in production, and green fashion design.

During the event, good practices from municipalities like Stara Zagora, Varna, and Vetrino were presented, along with TexCycle's innovative sorting and recycling processes. A wool-working workshop led by artisan Zdravko Minchev highlighted wool's potential as a sustainable material for contemporary fashion.

Participants emphasized the need for clear regulations, financial support, and a coordinated national model to successfully transition to a circular textile economy in Bulgaria.
