Design Thinking Workshop - Omnipack, Hungary

On the Design Thinking workshop of Omnipack experts and researchers shared insights on sustainable packaging and recycling. András Ugrin (Ugrin Pack Erdősi Kft.) spoke about Redesigning food packaging in the context of a circular economy, emphasizing the use of homogeneous materials and repurposed machinery. Gergely Csézi (Budapest University of Technology and Economics) explored the role of bioplastics like PLA in circular economies, stressing the need for proper separation from conventional plastics. Dr. Márton Tomin (BME) highlighted how smart packaging design can minimize waste and material use, benefiting both the environment and businesses. László Bűdi (MyCeppi Ltd.) addressed common misconceptions about recycling, noting that stable-quality recycled materials are still not readily available at scale. The event underscored the importance of innovation and collaboration in tackling sustainability challenges in the packaging industry.
