European Researchers Night in Slovakia

WWF Slovakia

WWF-Slovakia was part of the European Researcher's Night in September, where they had a chance to present the RESTORIVER project. They talked about the importance of freshwater ecosystems, what threats are they facing, how can nature-based solutions can benefit rivers and us - people, as well as how we can implement nature-based solutions and natural water retention measures in cities without compromising flood protection.

Besides the stand with various games and activities for people to better understand the topic, the freshwater expert Martina Paulíková also held a presentation on river connectivity (Dajme riekam zelenú) where she explained the benefits of free-flowing rivers and floodplains, connectivity and need for restoration.

European Researcher's Night is the biggest science festival in Slovakia, and it brings news from the world of research and innovation in an inspiring and unique way. The festival is traditionally held on the last Friday of September in Bratislava, Košice, Banská Bystrica, Žilina, Poprad, and other accompanying locations. The day-long program offers a series of scientific presentations, discussions, practical experiments, workshops, technological attractions, and digital activities.
