On June 12, a meeting of the Interreg Danube Region Programme was held in Bucharest, focusing on fostering synergies between projects funded under the first and second calls of the Programme.
The RESTORIVER consortium also took part in the event. RESTORIVER is a project under Priority Axis 5: Climate Change Adaptation and Risk Management, aimed at the restoration of river ecosystems and strengthening resilience to climate-related challenges.
During the forum, the RESTORIVER team discussed opportunities for collaboration with other projects under the same priority axis, including BE READY, ADAPT, InDiMaND, and Monster in the Danube. Participants exchanged ideas for joint actions and explored ways to make better use of accumulated data and research. In cooperation with the coordinators of Priority Area 5 of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region, the organization of regular meetings was considered, with the goal of fostering coordination between projects - particularly those generating databases and research that could be further developed.
A proposal is also being considered to the Bulgarian Presidency of the Danube Strategy in 2026 to host such a forum or meeting as part of the Annual Forum of the Strategy.
The RESTORIVER project is funded by the Interreg VI-B Danube Region Programme 2021–2027 and brings together 15 organisations along the Danube River, with the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds (BSPB) as the lead partner.
