Joint meeting in Ukraine for the healthier water resources
January 24, 2025 - the Department of Environmental Protection and Climate Change Adaptation of the Kyiv City State Administration (KCSA) organized the stakeholder partnership meeting, which gathered around 70 participants, with 40 attending in person and about 30 joining online.
The purpose of the meeting was to review the Department's performance in 2024 and to plan future initiatives in collaboration with partners. However, special attention was given to the discussion of the KCSA’s partnership with WWF-Ukraine, which includes the implementation of a series of joint environmental projects.
One of the key initiatives is a large-scale survey under the RESTORIVER project, aimed at identifying the major issues related to Kyiv's water resources. The survey results will not only highlight the most critical challenges but will also help develop specific recommendations and action plans to address them.
Additionally, participants discussed ecosystem restoration projects and the adoption of climate solutions to enhance the city's resilience to environmental challenges.
The Department's Director emphasized that despite the difficulties caused by the ongoing war, significant progress had been made. Among the key achievements were comprehensive work on protected natural areas, the expansion of green zones within the city, scaling up nature-based solutions, and a systematic approach to animal protection.
All included actively discussed future environmental initiatives focused on climate adaptation and improving urban living conditions. The event served as an important platform for dialogue, bringing together representatives of local authorities, environmental organizations, and experts to promote the sustainable development of Kyiv.
