Sampling campaign in Romania

Romanian sampling sites

National Administration “Romanian Waters” - NARW sampled in the following sites:

Jiu downstream confluence Garbov River (45.27364, 22.95858) – The background site is located in the Carpathian area, with natural vegetation without any anthropogenic influence. HS measured: metals, PFAS, pharmaceuticals.
Zăval, Jiu River (43.84190, 23.84548, RO19 TNMN site) - The sampling site is situated upstream of the confluence of the Jiu River with the Danube. The area is impacted by the dense population of human agglomerations and also of Craiova big city with around 300,000 inhabitants. Other pressures that could affect the quality of water site are coming from diffuse agriculture. HS measured: metals, PFAS, pharmaceuticals.
Clătești, Argeș River (44.146848, 26.594255, RO9 TNMN site) - The sampling site is situated upstream of the confluence of the Argeș River with the Danube. The quality of water site is affected by human agglomerations and agriculture diffuse pollution. Also, an important pressure is coming from the main tributary, the D“mbovița River, which is impacted by Bucharest big city with almost 2 million inhabitants. HS measured: metals, PFAS, pharmaceuticals.
Șendreni, Siret River (45.405385, 27.928735, RO10 TNMN site) - The sampling site is situated upstream of the confluence of the Siret River with the Danube, upstream from the Galati city. HS measured: metals, PFAS, pharmaceuticals.
Giurgiulești, Prut River (45.470571, 28.201863, RO11 TNMN site) - The sampling site is situated upstream of the confluence of the Prut River with the Danube. The area is impacted by the dense population of human agglomerations and also of Galați big city with around 220,000 inhabitants. In the area of Giurgiulesti monitoring station, the Prut River forms the border between Romania and the Republic of Moldova. HS measured: metals, PFAS, pharmaceuticals.
WWTP Glina, Bucharest (46.117488, 14.610632). The receiving river of the WWTP effluents is D“mbovița River. The WWTP Glina treats municipal wastewater as well as industrial wastewater. . HS measured: metals, PFAS, pharmaceuticals.
WWTP Făcăi-Craiova (44.26001, 23.820537). The receiving river of the WWTP effluents is Jiu River. The WWTP Craiova treats the waste waters from households and industry. HS measured: metals, PFAS, pharmaceuticals.
