Bridging Vision and Action: The First Cross-Macroregional Event on Smart Rural Development

On 24 March 2026, Sofia (Bulgaria) will host the first cross-macroregional event on Smart Rural Development, organised by representatives of all four EU macro-regional strategies together with the Horizon Europe project SMART ERA.

Under the motto “Bridging Vision and Action: Smart Rural Development That Leaves No Region Behind”, the event will focus on the future of smart rural development, highlight evidence-based decision-making, and provide a platform to share and test practical approaches that can be transferred across regions.

The programme will feature an expert panel discussion, interactive World Café sessions, presentations of inspiring good practices, and ample opportunities for networking. The event targets representatives from municipalities, civil society organisations, research and academia, national authorities, European institutions, and macro-regional governance bodies.

The event will be held in English, is free of charge, and requires prior registration.
