SBA held a meeting on discussing the national survey on digitalisation in construction

SBA, as partner in the project, has held a second meeting with the national stakeholders group from Slovakia, with the primary focus was on the current findings related to digital transformation and the circular economy within Slovakia's construction sector, alongside presenting the results of the national survey on these topics. Key areas addressed included:

  • The current status of the construction sector concerning circular economy and digitalization.

  • Barriers and challenges faced in Slovakia.

  • Circular economy indicators such as municipal waste, eco-innovation index, landfill rate, etc.

  • Presentation of the national survey results.

The national survey included responses from various companies of different sizes and sectors, such as construction, craft, government, IT, academia, circular economy and consultancy. The results revealed that while some respondents have a deep knowledge of the circular economy, many have only a superficial or no knowledge at all. Companies are generally engaged to some extent in circular economy practices, but there is considerable room for improvement in both awareness and implementation. There is also a clear trend towards digitalisation in the construction sector, although the uptake of digital tools and technologies varies considerably between companies. Overall, the survey highlights the need for increased education and resources to support the uptake of circular economy principles and digitalisation in the construction sector.

Feedback on the presentation and survey results from participants was very positive. Despite the online format, efforts were made to ensure every participant had the opportunity to contribute. This led to a series of interesting and relevant points and suggestions.
