Exhibition "Our Craft Heritage in the Danube Region"

As part of the project, the temporary exhibition “Our Craft Heritage in the Danube Region” was organized at the premises of the Csányi Foundation by the Lead Partner, with the support of the Csányi Foundation and the Jászság Folk Art Workshop Association.

The exhibition was realized as part of the project’s final events (11–13 May) and was officially opened by the Mayor of Jászberény on 12 May. In his welcome speech, he emphasized the importance of preserving and promoting the cultural and craft heritage of the project regions and highly appreciated the joint efforts and contributions of all partners to the successful implementation of the project and its final event. The opening ceremony was further enriched by a short folk dance performance presented by local young dancers, offering visitors an authentic insight into the area’s living traditions and cultural values.

The exhibition presented the craft heritage of the Danube Region through the results achieved by the eight COMHERITOUR project partners, each representing a distinctive cultural region. Visitors were able to explore the outcomes of the pilot activities, including newly developed craft products and creative solutions inspired by local traditions. To support interpretation and learning, the exhibition featured a comprehensive set of informational posters providing background information on the creators, the craft traditions, and the geographical and cultural context of each participating region. These materials helped visitors gain a deeper understanding of the historical, cultural, and social significance of the exhibited heritage.

In addition to the international project content, the exhibition also featured the works of artisans and craftspeople from Jászberény and the wider Jászság region. Their creations were displayed in a dedicated section through which visitors passed before reaching the main exhibition area, creating a direct connection between local heritage and the broader Danube-region perspective. 

The exhibition was organized primarily by members of the Jászság Folk Art Workshop Association, whose expertise and commitment played a key role in its successful realization. Their work was supported by a professional exhibition designer and organizer, who contributed to the preparation, layout, and visual presentation of the exhibition.

The exhibition remained open for one month, from mid-May to mid-June. Visitors primarily arrived in groups from schools across the Jászság region, although many individual visitors also took the opportunity to explore this unique attraction.

The key message of the exhibition was that traditional craft heritage can serve not only as a valuable element of cultural preservation but also as a source of inspiration for contemporary creativity, sustainable development, and the enrichment of regional cultural and tourism offers. By showcasing both traditional knowledge and innovative applications, the exhibition demonstrated the continuing relevance of craft heritage in the modern world and its role in strengthening regional identity.
