New Geopark Aspirations in Konjic – A Promising First Step Forward!

𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐊𝐨𝐧𝐣𝐢𝐜 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐠 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐛𝐞 𝐆𝐞𝐨𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐏𝐥𝐮𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐠𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐤. 𝐖𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

On June 3, 2025, a round table discussion on the initiative for the first geopark in Bosnia and Herzegovina was held at Europe House in Sarajevo! The College of Tourism and Management Konjic organized the event on the topic "Why a geopark in BiH and why disenfranchised women."

Attendees included representatives from the embassies of Slovenia and Croatia, the municipalities of Kreševo and Posušje, various tourism organizations, media representatives, and students. Special mention goes to the strong interest shown by the municipality of Kreševo and the Ministry of Tourism of the Central Bosnia Canton (SBK).

The SBK proposed:

Formation of a working group

Coordination with the municipalities of Kreševo and Kiseljak

Promotion of the geopark at tourism fairs

Agreements with the municipality of Kreševo included field visits, workshops with locals, and the inclusion of the geopark in the Development Strategy of the Central Bosnia Canton.

All participants praised the initiative and expressed their readiness to support it.
