First Stakeholder Meeting in Đakovo:

A Joint Step Towards a New Model of Care for Older Adults

On Tuesday, 23 September 2025, the first stakeholder meeting for the Đakovo region was held at the Catholic Faculty of Theology in Đakovo. The event introduced the objectives and activities of the project while providing a platform for exchanging experiences and ideas that will shape its future implementation.

The meeting brought together representatives from the Croatian Institute for Social Work—county and regional offices, the Osijek-Baranja County Health Center, local government, providers of social services for older adults, civil society organizations, universities, schools, kindergartens, and community volunteers.

A particular emphasis was placed on the importance of cross-sector collaboration. Only through joint efforts can we develop a care model tailored to local conditions and the needs of the most vulnerable members of our community—older and dependent adults.

The planned care model for the pilot activities includes a range of innovative services: mobility support, lifelong learning programs, cultural and creative activities, occupational therapy, intergenerational socialization, preventive health programs, and other forms of assistance and support within day-care settings for older and dependent adults. The goal is to create a space where older adults not only receive safety and care but also have opportunities for an active and fulfilling life.
