2nd meeting with local LAGs and PEGs in Romania
On 19th of March 2026, the General Directorate of Social Assistance and Child Protection (DGASPC) Sector 6 hosted the second stakeholder meeting of the ELEVATE project at the Local Food Bank Sector 6. This working session brought together public authorities, specialists, and NGOs to refine concrete solutions for vulnerable individuals, following the project’s mission to include beneficiaries directly in the co-creation of social services.
The primary focus of the meeting was the technical preparation for "Cook, Share, Care!", the central pilot action developed within the ELEVATE project in Bucharest. This innovative intergenerational model is scheduled for implementation from 1st of April 2026 to 30th of September 2027, marking a significant period of active community engagement and testing of new social service standards.
Through this initiative, seniors are repositioned as active community mentors who share valuable knowledge about healthy and affordable cooking, while children from disadvantaged backgrounds learn to make better nutritional choices. By using food as a shared educational resource, the project aims to simultaneously reduce social isolation among the elderly and increase nutritional literacy among youth.
Beyond immediate community benefits, the pilot serves as a testing ground for a sustainable governance model. The stakeholders analyzed how these activities can be scaled and integrated into future public policies, ensuring that the intervention remains a permanent and efficient resource for the District 6 community.
By driving the ELEVATE project forward, DGASPC Sector 6 demonstrates that social inclusion is most effective when solutions are co-created with the voices of those directly affected. "Cook, Share, Care!" represents a decisive step toward smarter, more connected, and more empathetic social services.
