Interreg – 35 years of European cooperation, 18 years of impact in Romania!
For 35 years, the Interreg story has been written successfully across Europe and for 18 years, Romania has been an integral part of this story.
On November 12–13, 2025, DGASPC Sector 6 and Urbasofia participated at the Palace of the Parliament in a special event organized by Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration together with the Romanian Parliament and the European Commission, to celebrate the "Interreg show" – cooperation, partnership, and projects that have brought people and communities closer together.
For 35 years, Interreg has connected regions across Europe, and Romania, in turn, has contributed to this beautiful 18-year story – with results, professional friendships, and initiatives that truly change lives and territories.
In 2025, Ministry of Development, Public Works and Administration aimed to tell the Interreg story in Romania louder than ever: to highlight successful projects, create new links between beneficiaries, and strengthen the spirit of this community.
The event — supported by the Danube Region Program 2021–2027 — brought together over 250 participants from Romania and Europe: public institutions, experts, representatives of Interreg programs, and partners involved in numerous projects.
The projects presented were grouped into 7 themes that say everything about the directions in which European cooperation is developing: SMART, GREEN, CONNECTED, SOCIAL, CITIZENS, SECURE, and GOVERNANCE. The projects funded by the Danube Region Program.
This conference was a great opportunity for strengthen the cooperation, for inspirational good practice models and to create networking with new local stakeholders for ELEVATE project.
