Capacity-Building Workshop in Serbia Ahead of Pilot Implementation

Capacity-building workshop for school management
October 9 2026

On 9 October 2026, the University of Belgrade – Faculty of Economics and Business hosted a capacity-building workshop for school management, teachers and professional associates as part of the FLEXITRAIN project. The event brought together nearly 40 participants, including 29 representatives from 14 vocational secondary schools across Serbia.

Participants were welcomed by Vice-Dean Mladen Stamenković, followed by Nemanja Vuksanović, the project coordinator at the Faculty of Economics and Business, and Saša Veljković, a member of the project team.

The workshop focused on two complementary project-based learning tools selected for piloting in Serbia:

  • Career Path Discovery Project – supporting students in exploring their strengths, interests and potential career pathways.

  • Real-World Challenge Project – engaging students in teamwork and solving real-life challenges, particularly those with low motivation or at risk of early school leaving.

The training combined practical activities, discussions on students' needs and experiences, and preparation for implementing the tools in different school contexts.

During the 2026/2027 school year, approximately 500–700 first- and second-year vocational students are expected to participate in the pilot. The two tools are intended to be implemented sequentially, with career exploration providing a foundation for collaborative work on real-world challenges.

The pilot will assess student engagement, participation and experiences, as well as the tools' applicability and potential adaptation for wider use in Serbian vocational education.
