Training for the Pilot Implementation of Tools

First training session for the pilot implementation
September 29 2026

On 29 September 2026, the first training session for the pilot implementation of tools under the FLEXITRAIN project took place at School Centre Novo mesto. The training was designed to prepare participants for piloting selected tools and working methods at School Centre Novo mesto during the 2026/2027 school year.

FLEXITRAIN develops and tests flexible training methods for young people who have left education. School Centre Novo mesto is a project partner and, as part of the pilot implementation, will test selected tools designed to support students and help identify and prevent the risk of early school leaving at an early stage.

Objectives of the first training session

The aim of the first session was to familiarise participants with the purpose and objectives of the pilot implementation, present the selected tools, and define how they would be used, monitored and evaluated. The planned pilot timeline and reporting arrangements were also presented.

Particular attention was given to the Individual Education Plan (IEP), one of the tools selected for piloting. The IEP links students identified needs with planned support. It includes a risk assessment and an initial student profile, as well as defined goals, measures, responsible persons and deadlines. Monthly monitoring and evaluation are also planned to enable the plan to be adjusted as needed.

Monitoring and next steps

During the pilot, particular attention will be paid to monitoring the activities carried out, the agreed indicators and students’ responses to the support provided. The data and experience collected will help assess the usefulness of each tool and the possibilities for integrating it into the school’s existing work.

The pilot implementation will take place in several stages. In October 2026, students will be selected, an initial risk assessment will be carried out and Individual Education Plans will be prepared. In November and December, the agreed indicators will be monitored, support measures will be implemented, and monthly reviews and adjustments will take place. An interim evaluation and a decision on the next steps are planned for January 2027.

The second part of the training will take place on 19 October 2026. It will focus on practical work, the exchange of experience and the preparation of a concrete pilot implementation plan. Participants will also present methods, approaches and tools they already use when working with students and jointly explore how these can be combined with the selected pilot tools.

Through the pilot implementation, School Centre Novo mesto aims to gain practical insight into the usefulness of the selected tools in a school setting, identify students’ needs earlier and plan appropriate support. The results will provide a basis for further developing approaches and assessing whether the tools can be incorporated into the school’s everyday practice.
