Bilateral stakeholder workshop in Bošnjaci (09.06.2026)

A bilateral stakeholder consultation of the InnoWATCCH project (Innovative Water Retention for Climate Change Mitigation, Sustainable Agriculture and Flood Protection – DRP0301199), funded by the Interreg Danube Programme was held on 9^th June 2026 in Bošnjaci. The event brought together stakeholders from Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, including representatives of public and regional authorities, institutions, and organizations. This meeting was organized with the aim of exchanging knowledge and experience and strengthening cross-border cooperation in the field of water resources management and climate change adaptation. The Bošnjaci area is located within the project’s pilot area, where monitoring and sampling activities are being carried out, which also gives this location significance for the implementation of other bilateral project activities.

The programme featured presentations by Dr. Tamara Marković from the Croatian Geological Survey, Dr. Ferid Skopljak from the Geological Survey of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Daria Čupić from Croatian Waters. Participants were introduced to the latest scientific knowledge on the impact of climate change on water resources and the water balance, possibilities for adaptation through sustainable groundwater management, and the legal and regulatory framework for the application of Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) systems in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Particular emphasis was placed on MAR as one of the key measures for increasing the resilience of water systems to increasingly pronounced climate challenges.
