Representatives of the Croatian Geological Survey participated in the IAH World Groundwater Congress 2026, held in Budapest, Hungary to promote InnoWATCCH
Representatives of the Croatian Geological Survey, Tamara Marković, Igor Karlović, and Ivana Benčić, participated in the IAH World Groundwater Congress 2026, held in Budapest, Hungary.
The congress took place from 14 to 18 September 2026. As part of the dissemination and promotion activities of the InnoWATCCH project, funded through the Interreg Danube Region Programme, the team presented a poster entitled “Development of a Conceptual Model of the Groundwater–River Interaction under Changing Climate Conditions by Using Hydrochemical and Isotopic Parameters.”
The poster highlighted preliminary research results on groundwater–surface water interactions in the Sava River alluvial aquifer, focusing on the integration of hydrochemical and isotopic methods to develop a conceptual model supporting the assessment of Managed Aquifer Recharge (MAR) potential. Participation in the congress provided an excellent opportunity to enhance the international visibility of the InnoWATCCH project, disseminate preliminary research findings, and exchange knowledge and experience with scientists, researchers, and professionals from a wide range of disciplines, including hydrogeology, geochemistry, environmental sciences, climate research, and water resources management.
The event also offered valuable opportunities for interdisciplinary dialogue, networking, and establishing potential future collaborations.
