MicroDrink at InPlasTwin Summer School 2026
From 15-19 June 2026, the MicroDrink project was represented at the InPlasTwin Summer School 2026, hosted by the Jožef Stefan Institute in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The event brought together researchers, environmental and food professionals, policymakers, and other stakeholders to explore the latest developments in the detection, characterization, and quantification of micro- and nanoplastics in environmental and food systems.
Representing the Croatian Geological Survey, the Lead Partner of the MicroDrink project, Dr. sc. Ana Selak participated in a comprehensive programme of lectures, workshops, and discussions led by internationally recognized experts. Key topics included analytical workflows for micro- and nanoplastics, advanced detection techniques, environmental fate and hazard assessment, quality assurance approaches, and the integration of scientific knowledge into policy and regulatory frameworks.
A particular highlight was the final Science-Policy-Practice Lab: From Microplastics Data to Real-World Action, which focused on strengthening the connection between science, policymaking, and industry.
During this session, Dr. sc. Ana Selak presented MicroDrink’s “Roadmap Towards MP Strategy”, showcasing the project’s efforts to support evidence-based solutions for addressing microplastic contamination in drinking water.
Participation in the Summer School provided an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge, strengthen international cooperation, and increase the visibility of the MicroDrink project within the European scientific and policy community working to tackle microplastic pollution.
