National Capacity-building training courses for stakeholders in Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary and Germany
The national training courses provided an important platform for exchanging knowledge and experiences related to the presence of microplastics in drinking water, as well as for discussing approaches to effectively manage this growing environmental challenge. Participants actively contributed to dynamic discussions, sharing valuable insights from their respective fields and sectors.
A central highlight of the training courses was the presentation and testing of the Decision-Making Support Tool (DMST), currently being developed within the project. This tool is designed to assist institutions and decision-makers in planning and implementing measures for managing microplastics in drinking water systems. Participants had the opportunity to explore its beta version and provide constructive feedback for its further improvement.
In addition to the presentation of the DMST tool, the final version of the MicroDrink Knowledge Base was introduced, together with the results of microplastic analyses in drinking water across the participating countries, as well as the various microplastic sampling systems developed by project partners. These topics attracted considerable interest among participants and stimulated active discussion.
The high level of engagement and openness to collaboration clearly demonstrated the strong relevance of this topic across sectors.
The training courses concluded with a summary of key findings and recommendations, emphasizing the importance of continued cooperation between the scientific community, institutions, and other stakeholders.
Overall, the events fostered meaningful dialogue, knowledge exchange, and laid a strong foundation for future collaboration and knowledge transfer in addressing the issue of microplastics in drinking water.
The high level of participation clearly reflects the relevance of the topic and highlights the need for strengthening capacities to manage microplastics in drinking water in the Danube region.
