National Networking and Expert Meeting in Hungary

28.11.2025 | Százhalombatta

The first Hungarian national project event of the Interreg project ROMAN LEGACY focused on network-building and took place on 28 November 2025 in Százhalombatta. The workshop represented a key milestone of the project, as it marked the first occasion for professional consultation where participants could jointly reflect on contemporary interpretations of Roman heritage and its future role.

At the Százhalombatta meeting, the two Hungarian project partners, KÖME and Westpannnon presented the main directions and expected outcomes of the project, with particular emphasis on the Roman heritage-themed trails to be developed in the partner countries and the related programmes. They also introduced the joint branding concept, which will provide a unified visual identity and narrative framework throughout the project’s duration and for the Cultural Route.

Participants shared their experiences regarding the interpretation of the Roman heritage sites they represent, as well as approaches to presenting archaeological heritage to the wider public in a modern, interactive and sustainable manner. It provided an opportunity for professionals, municipal representatives, museum and tourism stakeholders to establish new partnerships and jointly explore opportunities for interregional cooperation.

The event clearly confirmed that the Hungarian partners are active contributors to the project and represent significant value within cultural cooperation across the Danube region. The joint discussions highlighted that the experiential presentation of Roman heritage can not only enhance tourism appeal but also contribute to strengthening local identity and expanding international cultural relations. In the upcoming months, the project will continue with further workshops and site visits, during which project partners will work together to develop methods for presenting Roman heritage.
