Roman Legacy at the EEA 2026

Members of the Roman Legacy project participated at the 32nd Annual Meeting of the European Association of Archaeologists (EAA 2026), held in Athens, Greece. Some members of the project team participated in session #212, Transforming Data into Experience: Interdisciplinary Strategies for Sustainable Archaeological Tourism, which focused on new ways of transforming archaeological research and knowledge into engaging, accessible, and sustainable cultural tourism experiences.

The session was organised by members of the project team: Marta Rakvin and Jacqueline Balen (Croatia), Szilvia Fábián (Hungary), and Sarah Kiszter and Raffaela Woller (Austria). Several project members actively contributed to the session by presenting their research through both oral presentations and posters. Their contributions highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary and international collaboration in connecting archaeological research with the public and developing new approaches to heritage interpretation and sustainable tourism.

Participation in EAA 2026 provided an opportunity to present the project’s work to an international professional audience, exchange knowledge and experiences, and strengthen collaboration between researchers and heritage institutions from different European countries.
