Presentation of the ROMAN LEGACY project at the 20th Lughnasad International Festival of Celtic Culture in Nasavrky
On 31 July 2026, the Institute of Archaeology of the Czech Academy of Sciences, Brno, presented the ROMAN LEGACY project at the 20th Lughnasad International Festival of Celtic Culture in Nasavrky.
The project was presented through the information stand of the Mušov Visitor Centre – Gateway to the Roman Empire and an accompanying expert and interactive programme. Visitors learned about the main objectives of ROMAN LEGACY, which focuses on the joint presentation, interpretation and accessibility of Roman cultural heritage in the Danube region and on the development of a transnational thematic region and cultural route along the Roman frontier.
The importance of South Moravia during the Roman period and its role in wider cultural and trade networks connecting the Roman Empire with territories beyond its borders was highlighted. The festival setting also provided an opportunity to showcase the cultural links between Celts, Germanic peoples and Romans as part of a shared European heritage.
Lectures and creative activities complemented the presentation and helped communicate the project’s themes in an accessible and engaging way. Participation in Lughnasad enabled ROMAN LEGACY to reach a new audience and promote the project beyond events organised by the project consortium.
