The first meeting of the SAFETY4TMF project partners was successful

The kick-off meeting of the SAFETY4TMF project - funded by the Danube Region Programme - took place in the interesting premises of the Ostrava Museum. On 19 and 20 March 2024, the 16 partners of the project met. The aim of the first ever meeting was to lay the foundations for future activities and to create frameworks for cooperation between the project partners. The two-day programme included thematic presentations, sessions and workshops with roundtable discussions focusing on different aspects of tailings management facility (TMF) safety in the Danube
basin. The meeting highlighted the importance of addressing gaps in safety regulations for TMFs, improving risk management practices and strengthening trust between stakeholders. Participants stressed the need for comprehensive legislation, adequate resources and proactive measures to ensure the safety and sustainability of TMFs.
