The second national stakeholder roundtable
On June 17, 2025, the Ministry of Public Administration and Regional Development, Lead Partner of the SAFETY4TMF project, organized the second national stakeholder roundtable. The event brought together representatives from 15 institutions, including national authorities, academic and research organizations, water management bodies, and disaster management directorates.
The meeting focused on presenting the progress of the project, with special attention to the upcoming transnational TMF disaster management exercises in Szolnok and Algyő, scheduled for September 2025. Representatives from the project partners—the Middle Tisza District Water Directorate and the Csongrád-Csanád County Disaster Management Directorate—introduced the Hungarian pilot activities. These complex, on-site simulations will address emergency scenarios related to tailings management facilities (TMFs), aiming to strengthen national preparedness and improve risk mitigation capacities. The Pilot Site Coordinators also explained how stakeholders can benefit from these pilot exercises, either by actively participating or by reviewing the outcomes.
As part of the roundtable, the project team reported a compilation of good practices of cooperation developed under the project framework. Attending authorities expressed particular interest in these examples, highlighting their relevance for local-level implementation.
The event also welcomed representatives of the GEONETSEE Interreg project, whose presence contributed to cross-project collaboration and knowledge exchange within the Danube Region.
We thank all participants for their active engagement and support for the SAFETY4TMF project’s goals and activities.
