Project partner: The National Association of Volunteers in the Republic of Bulgaria (NAVRB)
The National Association of Volunteers in the Republic of Bulgaria (NAVRB) was established in 2014 as an organization of individuals who share common values with a mission to assist in managing emergency situations. It unites all entities involved in crisis management — volunteers, professional firefighters and rescuers, and local government — under one organizational structure. NAVRB is also contributes to increasing society's capacity to cope with natural disasters and other emergencies.
NAVRB will conduct policy research and stakeholder mapping, contributing to policy recommendations and creating a transboundary risk map for the Danube River Basin (DRB). It will establish a Stakeholder Roundtable with the Association of Rhodope Municipalities and other stakeholders.
NAVRB will analyze national education programs in Bulgaria, enhance capacity-building curricula, and update disaster management procedures for Tailings Management Facilities (TMFs). It will organize an onsite exercise and develop e-learning modules on TMF risk and disaster management.
NAVRB will also participate in a pilot action to test TMF safety procedures, engage in transnational peer-reviews, and contribute to a case study on the tested solutions.
