Slow Food Fair in Montenegro showcasing Local Culinary Heritage Under the SReST Project
This autumn, the traditional Slow Food Fair once again brought together enthusiasts of local cuisine, authentic flavors, and sustainable food practices in Bijelo Polje, Montenegro. This year’s edition was organized within the framework of the SReST – Sustainable, Resilient and Efficient Food System in the Danube Region project, adding a strong strategic and international dimension to the event.
A Showcase of Culinary Diversity
Visitors were invited to explore the rich diversity of tastes offered by local environments and traditional culinary practices. Producers and artisans from various regions presented products crafted according to slow food principles, emphasizing quality, origin, sustainability, and the preservation of local gastronomic heritage. The Slow Food Fair also featured multiple tasting opportunities, allowing visitors to directly experience the uniqueness and variety of the showcased products.
Strengthening Sustainable Food Systems in the Danube Region
This year’s Slow Food Fair in Bijelo Polje served as an important platform to demonstrate the objectives and activities of the SReST project in practice – through taste, tradition, and responsible food culture.
The SReST project addresses key challenges of food systems in the Danube Region by strengthening their resilience, sustainability, and efficiency. Partners from several countries are developing solutions that connect local producers, communities, tourism stakeholders, and policymakers. The project aims to improve local food value chains, support sustainable food offerings, and promote a more inclusive, health-oriented, and environmentally responsible food ecosystem.
