Study trip Novi Sad, 21-22 November 2024

The two-day Study trip in Novi Sad was organized by the Center of Excellence for Circular Economy and Climate Change , a Serbian partner on the TEX-DAN and was held on 21 and 22nd November 2024. 

The first day of the Study trip revolved around visits to the local textile design and handmade production studio  Marija Handmade in Šabac
and i-Novi textili in Bečej, a plant for sportwear production.

Marija Handmade is a designer studio specialized in sewing collections made of natural fibers of wool, cotton, silk, hemp and linen. The yarns and canvases are hand-dyed by natural pigments. The studio  creates unique clothing items, fashion details, but also home textile designs.

The second day was opened by Mr. Goran Vujić, director of the Center of Excellence for Circular Economy and Climate Change, the host organization of the study trip, who welcomed all participants.  

The welcome speech was followed by the presentations of the representatives of the best practices in circular textile solutions in Serbia: The cluster of Serbian fashion and clothing industry   Ar Tech inženjering, DellanoFushPS Fashion,  and Women’s Center of Užice. It was an opportunity to hear how regional textile companies implement circularity in their businesses, what obstacles they have been facing with and what opportunities can benefit and improve their current businesses.

 Local presentations were followed by two EU examples of why it is important to raise public awareness of importance of the circularity in textile industry in EU and globally. 

Ms.  Klaudia Pölz,  presented work and mission of the Fashion Revolution movement Hungary , while  Mr. Luca Leonardi, innovation manager at TCBL Association
talked about  associations goals and importance within EU textile circularity framework. 

The second day was closed by the TEX-DAN project partners meeting where were discussed ongoing activities and upcoming Pilot projects and Parallel sessions for the stakeholders, which were moderated by Miodrag Živančev of CECC and László Csoknyai of STRIA.
