Exploring AI-Assisted CAD and 3D Printing at Stiftland Gymnasium in Tirschenreuth, Germany
In December 2025, students at Stiftland Gymnasium in Tirschenreuth, Germany, in collaboration with the University of Bayreuth, explored additive manufacturing through GenAI-assisted CAD design and 3D printing.
During the activity, students designed and produced creative Christmas decorations, gaining hands-on experience with digital modeling and modern additive manufacturing tools. The use of generative AI helped improve software literacy and significantly reduced the time required to move from design to the first printed object.
The initiative also gained media visibility through ARD Mediathek, highlighting the educational impact of combining artificial intelligence with digital design and 3D printing.
Through activities like this, the TransAC project continues to promote innovative learning methods and strengthen digital and engineering skills among young learners.
