Inauguration event celebrates DRP projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina

The event marked the inauguration of projects supported through the first call of Interreg Danube Region Programme, showcasing a strong commitment to regional cooperation.

Nearly 90 participants, including representatives from the MA/JS, the European Union delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, national organisations and project partners, gathered in Sarajevo on April 18, 2024. The event featured the inauguration of first call projects and an implementation workshop, conducted by the Ministry of Finance and Treasury.

Over €6.9 million of EU funds goes to Bosnia and Herzegovina

The director of the Directorate for European Integration, Elvira Habota, in her opening address emphasized the exceptional success of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the first call of the Interreg Danube Region Programme, both in terms of the number of partners and the number of projects in the implementation of which they will be involved over the period of the next 30 months.

Out of 60 new DRP first call projects, Bosnian partners are engaged in 53, with 2 partners leading the projects for the first time. Impressively, over half of BiH partners are new to European transnational cooperation. This brings €6.9 million in EU funds to Bosnia through the Interreg Danube Region Programme. It is over 60 percent higher than the amount contracted by partner organizations from Bosnia and Herzegovina during the entire 2014-2020 programming period.
