Second Task Force meeting shapes the way towards Interreg Danube 2028+

On 14 October 2026, the Managing Authority / Joint Secretariat of the Interreg Danube Region Programme convened the second meeting of the Task Force for the programming of Interreg Danube 2028+ in Budva, Montenegro. Members from across the Danube region came together for a full day of presentations and discussion.

The meeting opened with the first findings of the regional analysis, which provides the evidence base for the future programme. Building on these findings, participants took part in workshops on transnational challenges and territoriality, starting the discussion on the main directions of the programme after 2028.

The new programme builds on a strong legacy: the South East Europe Programme, the Danube Transnational Programme and the Danube Region Programme currently being implemented. Over the years, these programmes have delivered substantial support to non-EU partner countries and helped strengthen the Danube region as an attractive place to live, work and invest. This work continues.

At this early stage of the programming period, the input of Task Force members is particularly valuable. Their expertise, national perspectives and practical experience help shape a programme that responds to the real needs of the region and its people.

The Managing Authority / Joint Secretariat would like to thank all Task Force members for their constructive contributions and their continued commitment to this shared process.
