A2PT at Walk21 Conference and THE PEP / EHP Meeting in Tirana

The Active2Public Transport (A2PT) project took the spotlight this October at the Walk21 Conference in Tirana, held back-to-back with the THE PEP / EHP Partnership on Active and Healthy Mobility meeting. The event gathered ministerial representatives from across the pan-European region, alongside delegates from UNECE, WHO-Europe, UNEP, UN-Habitat, EBRD, Walk21, IFP, and POLIS, to discuss progress in implementing the Pan-European Master Plan on Walking.

Among the European initiatives presented, the A2PT Project, represented by Verracon together with Walk21, shared key results and insights. Particular attention was given to the walkability assessments conducted around 33 stations in seven countries. Participants also had the opportunity to provide feedback on the A2PT Online Toolbox and the pilot implementations. The shared findings and the invitation to collaborate on a joint policy brief on Active-to-Public Transport were enthusiastically received.

In the context of the Walk21 Conference, selected A2PT partners joined colleagues from the CityWalk 2.0 project for an informal working session. While CityWalk 2.0 is a separate project funded under the same Interreg Danube Region Programme, it shares similar goals in promoting active mobility and sustainable urban transport. The main focus of the meeting was exchanging experiences from pilot actions, particularly those related to street transformations. It was inspiring to hear about the progress in reallocating more space for pedestrians in the city of Chișinău, while A2PT partners from Burgenland and Slovenia contributed valuable insights from their evaluation frameworks and walkability assessments.
