Final Hungarian A2PT Working Group Meeting

The fourth and final Hungarian A2PT working group meeting brought together representatives from transport authorities, railway companies, and cycling organisations. The meeting provided an opportunity to reflect on the progress achieved within the project, exchange experiences, and discuss how cooperation between stakeholders could continue beyond the project’s lifetime.

The session began with a presentation by Zoltán Erdős from the Municipality of Budapest, who shared practical experiences and provided an overview of Hungary’s position in the international context of integrating cycling with public transport. His presentation sparked an engaging discussion among participants, with several stakeholders reflecting on similar challenges and opportunities in their own work.

Participants were then given a short update on the current status of the A2PT project. GYSEV presented its completed pilot project, while KTI introduced a pilot initiative expected to be implemented later this spring. The meeting also included the presentation of the beta version of the A2PT Toolbox, which is currently under active development.

The meeting concluded with a workshop exploring how the working group and the cooperation established during the project could be maintained in the future. Several concrete commitments emerged from the discussion, including the future involvement of public transport stakeholders in the National Cycling Forum (an advisory group to the State Secretary for Active Hungary), continued organisation of the A2PT national working group beyond the project implementation by the department responsible for active mobility, as well as the organisation of thematic study tours by the Hungarian Cycling Tourism Association. The participants agreed to continue their joint efforts to improve the integration of cycling with public transport services.

Overall, the meeting highlighted the strong commitment among Hungarian stakeholders to further strengthen the connection between cycling and public transport and to continue the collaborative work initiated within the A2PT project.
