Cyclist Breakfast at Kelenföld Train Station Promotes Sustainable Mobility

On September 16, 2025, as part of European Mobility Week, the Hungarian Cyclist Club organized an event called “Cyclist Breakfast”. The initiative was joined by the KTI Institute for Transport Sciences, which offered free breakfast to cyclists passing Kelenföld train station while also promoting the Active2Public Transport (A2PT) project. Kelenföld station and the adjacent Etele tér (where the event took place) serve as a key multimodal hub in Budapest, integrating national rail, metro, tram, bus and coach services with active mobility options such as cycling, bike-sharing and pedestrian connections.

The event highlighted the importance of commuting to work by bike. The main message was that cycling is not only a fast, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly mode of transport, but it also improves health, reduces stress, and contributes to building a more livable city. By choosing to cycle, commuters play an active role in shaping a cleaner, safer urban environment. Participants were treated with coffee, apple juice, pastries, and fresh fruit, while also receiving practical information about the ongoing A2PT project, which encourages the combination of cycling with public transport.
