Grosuplje, Slovenia, Connects Cycling and Public Transport with New Smart Bicycle Parking
The upgraded bicycle parking facility marks an important step towards a more sustainable future for Grosuplje. At the Grosuplje railway station, the existing secure bicycle parking area has been modernised with a new, user-friendly locking system operated via the KALUU app. Citizens are invited to try it out, share their experiences, and be among the first in Slovenia to test advanced sustainable mobility solutions free of charge.
The upgrade was carried out as part of the Active2Public Transport (A2PT) project, implemented under the INTERREG Danube Region Programme 2021–2027. The project forms part of broader efforts to reduce transport’s carbon footprint and, in Grosuplje, brings tangible solutions for more sustainable and people-friendly mobility.
The aim of the upgraded facility is to increase the use of secure bicycle parking, encourage the integration of active mobility (cycling) with public passenger transport, and analyse users’ experiences and travel habits. Based on the feedback collected, the project aims to further develop a network of secure bicycle parking facilities at passenger hubs across Slovenia.
