Understanding the Challenges and Opportunities for NEET Youth in Romania

The South Muntenia Regional Development Agency organised a national workshop to explore the hurdles faced by Romanian NEETs and seek pathways for their integration

On 18 September 2024, the South Muntenia Regional Development Agency organised a national workshop that gathered experts, local authorities, and business representatives to shed light on the challenges faced by NEETs in Romania. The event took place in the heart of Argeș County, Romania, and was hosted by the Argeș Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture.

Mrs Daniela Traian, Director of Development at the South Muntenia Agency, was joined during the event by Larisa Calotă and Doinița Lefter from the Projects and International Relations Service. Together with local public authorities and business leaders, they delved into the legal and social framework of young NEET youth in Romania. Attendees from the Romanian Values School and the Argeș Business People’s Association also contributed their own perspectives.

Besides exploring the challenges faced by NEETs in the Romanian context, the event served to identify opportunities for their social and professional integration. Participants also shared good practices and success stories in enriching discussions.

This workshop is part of the Back on Track project’s ongoing efforts to understand and address the realities faced by NEETs in the Danube Region. It also reflects the broader commitment of the Danube Region Programme to create a more inclusive, socially resilient future.
