Meet our pilots- graphic designs in Ptuj

In CITYWALK2.0 every technical pilot is accompanied by a strong community campaign, because real change in travel behaviour requires not only infrastructure but also clear communication and awareness-raising. In Ptuj, the pilot action around the installation of totems near schools is supported by a rich mix of offline and online campaign tools designed to reach children, parents, teachers, drivers, and the wider community. Offline, the CITYWALK2.0 messages appear on buses, billboards at bus stations, a large banner, posters placed across the city, and canvas visuals displayed in schools, ensuring continuous presence in the urban environment. Online, the city launched a creative TikTok challenge and regular Facebook posts to engage younger audiences and spread the message quickly and widely.

The overall aim of the campaign in Ptuj is to highlight the implemented pilot action, inform the local community about the importance of sustainable mobility and road safety, and connect local stakeholders through joint activities. At the same time, it offers something innovative and creative for the city, helping to make everyday mobility cleaner, safer, and healthier—especially for children on their daily routes to school. While children and young people are a key focus of the campaign, parents, teachers, drivers, local residents, and decision-makers also play an important role, as their involvement strengthens the impact and supports longer-term change.

Through this mix of tools and target groups, Ptuj’s campaign demonstrates how community engagement and communication can effectively support travel behaviour change and contribute to a more responsible, walkable, and people-centred urban environment. More inspiring CITYWALK2.0 pilots will follow soon.
