The Art of Painted Eggs

The Art of Painted Eggs in Romania

🎨 The Art of Painted Eggs in Romania – Exhibition & Workshops

🏛️ The “Dimitrie Gusti” National Village Museum in Bucharest, together with the Embassy of Romania in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the Romanian Cultural Institute in Brussels, organizes the exhibition “The Art of Painted Eggs in Romania”, taking place 📅 29 March – 15 April 2026 at 📍 Vianden Castle Museum – Hall of Knights, Luxembourg.

🥚 The exhibition presents one of the most meaningful Easter traditions in Central and Eastern Europe – the art of decorating eggs, a ritual rich in symbolism and deeply connected to ancestral cultural practices. In Romania, this traditional craft has reached remarkable artistic refinement and continues to be practiced in several regions, being safeguarded and promoted as part of the country’s ✨ intangible cultural heritage.

🪄 As part of the exhibition programme, 📅 12–15 April 2026, visitors will have the opportunity to participate in Easter egg decorating workshops led by 👩‍🎨 Elena Aneci, a folk artisan from 🌄 Bucovina, who preserves the traditional wax-resist technique passed down from generation to generation.

🤝 Join us and discover the beauty of Romanian Easter traditions and authentic craftsmanship!
