🪆 Tradition Reimagined Through Creativity – Handmade Dolls Inspired by Romanian Folk Heritage

As part of the implementation of the Lead Partner's Regional Action Plan (RAP) within the DanubeCrafts project, participants and stakeholders had the opportunity to discover the fascinating world of handmade creations by Rucsandra Gheorghiță during a workshop and mini-exhibition dedicated to dolls dressed in Romanian traditional costumes.

Hosted at the Library of the National University of Science and Technology POLITEHNICA Bucharest, the event created a meaningful connection between traditional cultural heritage, academic life, contemporary creativity, and young audiences, demonstrating how Romanian traditions can inspire modern handmade products and creative industries.

🧵 Participants explored a unique collection of handmade dolls, discovered the techniques used to create them from textile yarns, and learned about the folk inspiration and symbolism behind the decorative elements of Romanian traditional costumes. The exhibition also showcased a variety of handmade products, including keychains, mărțișor ornaments, decorative magnets, dolls for children, and other creative objects inspired by Romanian folk motifs.

🤝 Through live demonstrations, interactive discussions, and creative exchanges, participants gained first-hand insight into the artistic process behind each handmade object and discovered how traditional cultural elements can be successfully reinterpreted into contemporary products while preserving their authenticity.

🌍 Through initiatives such as this, the DanubeCrafts project promotes living cultural heritage, supports handmade products and cultural and creative industries, encourages intergenerational knowledge transfer, and brings Romanian traditions closer to young and urban audiences, contributing to the development of sustainable cultural tourism across the Danube Region.
