🏡✨ The “Dimitrie Gusti” National Village Museum celebrates 90 years ❤️🎉
📅 On May 10, 1936, during the reign of King Carol II 👑, one of the first open-air museums in Europe opened its gates: the Village Museum.
🗣️ “...We did not follow the model of the open-air museums from the Nordic countries, such as Skansen, Bigdo or Lillehammer. In our view, they are too romantic and too ethnographic, focusing more on the ‘values’ and ‘museum pieces’ than on today’s people, their environment and everyday life… Our museum is not an ethnographic museum, but a social museum,” said Dimitrie Gusti, its founder.
🎓 The father of the Bucharest Sociological School, together with the cultural elite of the time, succeeded in creating, within an extremely short period, a scientific and artistic institution that would later become an internationally recognized cultural landmark 🌍✨
🏛️ Ninety years after its foundation, the Village Museum stands not only as an institution dedicated to preservation, but also as an active space for reinterpretation, capable of bringing heritage into dialogue with contemporary forms of expression 🎨🤝
🌿 We warmly invite you to join us between May 10–17 for a special encounter with history, traditions and authentic Romanian heritage at the Village Museum on Kiseleff Road! 🇷🇴❤️
