DanubeSediment_Q2 in Budapest

On 14 November we successfully concluded our partner and strategic partner meeting in Budapest! Through productive discussions and strong collaboration, we’ve made significant strides toward our goal: developing an integrated sediment quality and quantity management plan.

Within the meeting we had insightful discussion on sediment risks, spanning from impacts on fish and aquatic life to the challenges of floods, droughts, navigation, and hydropower operations. Through the DanubeSediment_Q2 project, we’re developing a comprehensive risk assessment toolkit to address sediment risks. This toolkit will consider sediment balance, morphology, ecology, and habitat conditions.

In collaboration with stakeholders, we’re co-creating and refining this tool, and will soon be testing it at our pilot sites to evaluate its effectiveness in real-world scenarios. Excited to drive impactful change in sediment management across the Danube region! Excited about the progress we’re making together and looking forward to the next steps on this journey!
