DECORATOR Final Conference in Ljubljana

The final conference of DECORATOR project was organised on the 21st October 2026 in Ljubljana (Slovenia). It presented how the project moved from a shared Danube vision for circular construction to concrete testing, pilot actions and transferable solutions. The event was designed as a showcase of what the partnership developed, tested and learned — and how these results can be taken forward after the project.

The programme highlighted the project journey through:

•  the DECORATOR Model and the common framework developed by the partnership,

•  five pilot actions testing circular approaches across the construction value chain,

•  five jointly developed solutions emerging from the pilots,

•  artistic residencies and new visions of buildings through art-thinking,

•  the DECORATOR Virtual Exhibition and the project Action Plan for uptake and legacy.

DECORATOR contributed to the Danube Region as a real-life laboratory for the circular transformation of the built environment. Its approach combined ecological and technological innovation with economic, social, cultural and aesthetic dimensions, linking construction, digitalisation, circular economy and the creative sector.

The conference also connected DECORATOR with complementary approaches beyond the project. A dedicated BAUHALPS contribution has brought an Alpine perspective on circular buildings and the New European Bauhaus, while the session on smart, healthy and human-centric buildings placed the project results in the wider context of future building quality and user needs.
