URBIS 2026 Smart City Meetup in Brno
The partners of the PilotInnCities project were co-organisers of the URBIS 2026 Smart City Meetup which took place in the town of Brno of the Czech Republic on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th of June 2026. The organisers were structuring the 2026 edition around the overarching theme of "the resilience of cities and municipalities", which – alongside large-city topics – places a deliberate focus on solutions applicable to the everyday operations of smaller settlements as well.
The five main thematic blocks of the 2026 conference:
1. Urban Safety & Security, Resilience
2. Climate Resilience & Circular Cities
3. Energy & Digital Sovereignty for Resilient Cities
4. Social & Community Resilience
5. Resilience in Mobility
The event provided excellent opportunity to present the activities and outcomes of the PilotInnCities project that promoted agile piloting for urban ecosystem development in the Danube Strategy Region with the financial support of the Interreg Danube Programme.
A press conference with the Czech Minister of Industry and Trade was scheduled for midday on Tuesday, 2 June 2026, followed by an informal exchange with Czech and international trade press representatives in the exhibition area. This block offered further publicity and visibility for pilot implementers and municipal partners alike.

PilotInnCities organised a dedicated 60-minute session in the main URBIS conference programme on Wednesday, 3 June 2026, from 12:30 to 13:30 (Stage 1 – Rotunda). The session was directly followed by the ENoLL (European Network of Living Labs) Living Labs block, scheduled for 11:00–12:00 – these two consecutive sessions together formed a particularly strong thematic block for those working with living-lab-based experimentation.
The visiting Hungarian delegation included experts from domains of clusters, univesities and living lab organisations who participated at the different workshops and also promoted the DECORATOR project.
