2nd meeting with local LAGs and PEGs in Hungary

2nd ELEVATE Workshop Held in Sümeg - On 27th of March 2026, the second ELEVATE workshop was organised in Sümeg.

On 27th of March 2026, the second ELEVATE workshop was organised in Sümeg.

Following the welcome remarks, the project manager of ELEVATE  project delivered a presentation introducing the project, with particular focus on the objectives of the individual specific objectives and the criteria expected of the planned pilot programme. The presentation briefly outlined the proposed methodology of the pilot activity in the Táj-Kapocs area, which will primarily focus on the implementation of intergenerational programmes. A further objective of the project is to use the ELEVATE model to support the development of a more inclusive local society through activities fostering cooperation between generations, while also ensuring that the methodology can be applied in future local and regional development initiatives.

After the presentation, Zsuzsanna Fazekas introduced two interesting international best practices that are also featured in the ELEVATE Good Practice Catalogue. One example from Bulgaria and one from Slovenia were highlighted, demonstrating the types of actions and interventions implemented in other EU countries to address the isolation and loneliness of elderly people.

István Breznovits, representing the Foundation for the Evangelical Charity Service of Szombathely, presented the project entitled Comp(AGE), which is also partly relevant to the Táj-Kapocs area. Within the framework of the Interreg Austria–Hungary Programme, the project consortium primarily focuses on volunteering, while digitalisation constitutes its main thematic direction. At the current stage of implementation, the project is seeking organisations willing to host volunteers to support the organisation of various community events. Another important objective is the training of volunteers, as working with elderly also requires specific skills and competences.

During the workshop, participants introduced themselves one by one and explained how they, or their organisations, could contribute to the future implementation of the project. As part of the joint discussion, they identified the most important challenges affecting the older generation and briefly reviewed the opportunities in programmes based on intergenerational cooperation. The shared commitment of the participants and the project remains unchanged: to actively contribute to the creation of common experiences and collaborative initiatives that reduce the isolation of older people and create real value for all generations.
