2nd Roundtable Discussion in Croatia

On 22–23 October 2026, the second Transnational Roundtable Discussion of the InDiMaND project took place at the VA.C.E.T.RA.S Training Centre in Vučevica, Croatia. The event was held alongside the 16th International Autumn Professional Conference of the Croatian Firefighting Association.

During the two-day meeting, project partners reviewed the progress achieved so far, coordinated upcoming activities, and exchanged experiences related to disaster preparedness and emergency response.

Project Progress and Next Steps

On the first day, participants reviewed the results of the project's third reporting period and discussed activities planned for the next implementation period.

The discussions focused on several key areas, including the development of common Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), mapping disaster management capacities, training programmes, the involvement of volunteers and young people, and public awareness-raising activities.

Project partners also had the opportunity to attend the international firefighting conference, including a practical forest fire demonstration exercise.

Experiences and Lessons Learned in Disaster Management

The second day focused on lessons learned from recent major fire incidents.

The discussions highlighted the importance of prevention, early detection, regular joint exercises, and effective coordination between different emergency response organisations.

Participants emphasised that experiences gained from real emergency situations should be incorporated into future training programmes and operational procedures.

Public communication, the promotion of volunteering, and the role of social media and digital platforms in engaging younger generations were also important topics.

Working Together for Better-Prepared Communities

As part of the event, a Steering Committee Meeting was held, during which project partners reviewed the current implementation status, upcoming tasks, and quality assurance requirements.

The meeting in Croatia once again highlighted that effective disaster preparedness depends on international knowledge exchange, coordinated professional efforts, and practical cooperation.

The InDiMaND project aims to strengthen disaster preparedness across the Danube Region by developing common approaches, improving cooperation between organisations, and contributing to safer, more resilient communities.
