Unlocking Pag’s Heritage: A Participatory Workshop

As part of the Territorial Analysis development activities, the MYSTICAL DANUBE project adopts a participatory approach by conducting workshops with local stakeholders. These workshops add significant value to the territorial analysis by incorporating local insights and knowledge about the natural and intangible cultural heritage of the Island of Pag.

On February 12, 2025, the lead project partner, AGRRA, organized a local workshop in Kolan. The event gathered key local stakeholders with in-depth knowledge of Pag’s cultural and natural heritage.

During the workshop, participants were introduced to the MYSTICAL DANUBE project’s activities and objectives. Following the presentation, an interactive session was conducted, engaging local stakeholders in identifying underappreciated elements of the island’s intangible cultural and natural heritage. These elements hold great potential for becoming valuable resources for the sustainable development of the local community, particularly within the framework of community-based tourism.

The insights gathered from the Pag workshop will contribute to the broader objectives of the project by integrating local knowledge into strategic planning and enhancing the recognition of Pag’s cultural and natural assets within the Danube region’s tourism framework. This participatory approach ensures that the local community plays an active role in shaping the sustainable development of their heritage.
