From abandoned to extraordinary! MARA capacity-building online workshop, 17 June 2026

As part of the NONA project, implemented within the Interreg Danube Region Programme 2021-2027, project partner MARA in collaboration with Zelena gradnja (Green Building) are organising an online capacity building workshop focused on the sustainable repurposing of abandoned public spaces.

The workshop "Repurposing abandoned public spaces for the establishment of Hotels/Hostels based on the principles of the New European Bauhaus" will take place on Wednesday, 17 June 2026, from 9:00 to 12:00 via Zoom.

Participants will gain practical insights into:

the principles of the New European Bauhaus: aesthetics, sustainability and inclusivity
phases and processes of renovating and establishing hotels in abandoned public spaces, good practices from Municipality of Sveti Filip i Jakov from abandoned public space to operational hotel
hotel management models in municipal ownership
financing opportunities in Croatia and the MARA and Zelena gradnja mentorship programme

It is primarily aimed at representatives of local and regional self-government units, as well as all stakeholders involved in the green transition including civil society organisations, investors, architects, urban planners and spatial planning experts.
