Green investment forum in Cazin Bosnia and Herzegovina highlights sustainable urban development and cultural heritage regeneration
On 26 June 2026, NONA project partner City of Cazin, Bosnia and Herzegovina, hosted a Regional Investment Forum as part of the NONA project, bringing together 60 participants to explore green investment opportunities, renewable energy initiatives and the revitalisation of cultural heritage. The hybrid event, held at City Hall Cazin and Old Town Ostrožac, gathered representatives of local and regional authorities, academia, public institutions, public utility companies, local communities, development organisations, project partners and the private sector.
The event served as a platform for presenting investment-ready projects, exchanging good practices and strengthening cooperation among stakeholders involved in sustainable territorial development. The forum aimed to strengthen dialogue between public authorities, academia, project partners and the private sector on investment opportunities supporting sustainable urban development, renewable energy transition and heritage valorisation.
Presentations addressed the pilot Golden Lily Square investment project, introduced by the design team of ING-STATIK BIRO d.o.o. Cazin, which set out plans to transform the site into a modern public space with cultural, social and economic development potential. Renewable energy communities were discussed through the Community Action for Energy Transition CAET project and the establishment of the Renewable Energy Community of the City of Cazin, ZOE Cazin. Prof. Dr. Ivan Jovetic of the University of Donja Gorica, Montenegro, joined online to present activities under the BauNOW project and to reflect on the role of academia in supporting green transition initiatives.
Particular attention was given to the revitalisation of Old Town Ostrožac, presented as a cultural heritage asset with significant tourism and investment potential. The forum concluded with a guided study visit to the site, giving participants first-hand insight into its cultural value and future development opportunities while reinforcing networking among project partners and stakeholders.
The forum raised awareness of sustainable investment opportunities in Cazin, presented several investment-ready urban development projects and strengthened cooperation between public authorities, academia, project partners and the private sector. It also improved visibility of the NONA, BauNOW and CAET projects and promoted renewable energy communities as an emerging investment model.
The Regional Investment Forum reinforced the role of the NONA project in supporting sustainable territorial development and cross-sector collaboration in Cazin. Participants responded positively to the relevance of the projects presented, the quality of discussions and the practical value of the study visit, with many calling for similar forums to continue in future.
