Urban regeneration and industrial heritage NONA event in Chișinău

Today, on 29 June 2026, Chișinău City Hall hosted the capacity-building event of the NONA – New Governance for New Spaces project at ARTCOR Creative Hub.

The event brought together representatives of the local public administration, as well as professionals in the fields of architecture, urban planning, cultural heritage, and tourism, all involved in the process of urban regeneration and the promotion of Chișinău's industrial heritage.

During the event, the project's results were presented alongside the revitalisation concept for the Red Mill Moara Roșie, proposing its transformation into a cultural centre and creative hub for the local community.

The NONA Project Manager, Victor Buzu, presented the implementation results and the project's technical journey, while Irina Ladaniuc introduced the Tourist Map of the Municipality of Chișinău as a tool for promoting the city's local heritage.

As part of the project, several preliminary studies were completed, including topographic, geotechnical, and archaeological investigations, as well as a conceptual design for the rehabilitation and restoration of the Red Mill, prepared by architect Gheorghe Bulat.

The next steps include the preparation of the detailed design documentation, obtaining approval from the National Council of Historic Monuments (CNMI), and securing the funding required to implement the restoration works.

The NONA project was implemented by the Chișinău City Hall, through the General Department of Architecture, Urban Planning and Land Relations DGAURF under the INTERREG Danube Region Programme 2021–2027.
